Indian Army to test locally made 'shoot and scoot' gun, relocating in 85 seconds
A theft of ₹5 lakh in cash was reported from a tyre shop located just outside Salt Lake City Centre 1. The incident came to light on Monday morning when the shop owner found the cupboard broken and the money missing. The shop is located in a high-traffic area known for its continuous movement of people throughout the day.
Following the complaint, officers from Bidhannagar North Police Station reached the location and examined CCTV footage installed inside the shop. According to police sources, the footage showed a long-time employee of the shop, who was seen accessing the cupboard and later fleeing the premises. His identity has been confirmed, and a search operation is underway.
Local residents expressed concern over how the theft occurred in such a crowded zone. They stated that the area is usually under surveillance and witnesses round-the-clock footfall. Police have registered a case and are analysing CCTV footage from surrounding areas to trace the suspect’s movements. The investigation is ongoing.
